September 29, 2017 was the date for Diversity &
Inclusion Professionals (DAIP) sixth annual awards luncheon. This year the
event was held at the Marriott Hotel in Providence and attended by several
hundred leaders in the field of diversity and inclusion at their respective
places of business. The DAIP group is a non-profit organization that advances
equity and inclusion as fundamental elements of business and community success.
DAIP was founded in 2009 as the outgrowth of an informal
network of diversity practitioners. The group saw a need to involve a broader
base of professionals in the inclusion discussion and to create a community
dialogue about how diversity and inclusion impact economic development,
employment, education, corporate governance and community success.
This years awards were presented to Robert A. DiMuccio,
Chairmen, President and CEO of AMICA Mutual Insurance Company and Vanessa
Flores-Maldonado, Campaign Coordinator, Providence Community –Police Relations
Act, (Vanessa’s award was accepted on her behalf by Linda Heng, Gender Justice
Coordinator of PrYSM). The program was well attended with Milagros Phillips,
Author and Motivational Speaker delivering the keynote address.
Ramona Royal of AMICA Insurance Company served as the
Mistress of Ceremonies and the Reverend Ebony Grisom delivered the programs
Invocation. The DAIP Board of Directors’ includes Linda Newton, President,
Rafael Zapata, Secretary, Tracy Barac, Greg Almieda, Vice President, Ramona
Royal, Treasurer, and Stephanie Huckel, who were on hand and assisted in the
