PAWTUCKET – U.S. Congressman David N.
Cicilline’s (D-RI) office is now accepting submissions for the 2018
Congressional Art Competition in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District.
“I encourage all of our state’s young artists to
participate in the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for Rhode Island’s First
Congressional District by submitting a great example of their work to my
office,” said Cicilline, a member of the Congressional Arts Caucus. “This
competition offers a unique opportunity for artists to gain national exposure
and demonstrate our state’s commitment to the arts. I always look forward to
seeing the incredible diversity of pieces that are submitted, and I hope 2018
will be the best year yet.”
Cicilline’s Congressional Art Competition is open to all
high school students who reside in the First District. Students or
teachers interested in participating should register with my office by
contacting Jakub Lis by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by
phone at 401-729-5600. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 27th.
Cicilline will convene a panel to award first, second, and
third place awards, and the overall winner of the competition will have their
artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. He or she will also receive
two complimentary airline tickets to travel to Washington, D.C. to join an
exhibition highlighting the work of young artists who have been selected
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide
an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic
talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school
students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
