Island May 2018 — To celebrate Community Action Month and raise awareness of
the services we provide to low-income Providence residents, on Saturday May
19th, 2018 from 10am to 2pm we will host our Spring into Community
Action event at the Elmwood Community Center at 85 Atlantic Avenue,
Providence. Rilwan Feyisitan, Jr., Executive Director of CAPP will speak
briefly and the Honorable Mayor Jorge Elorza has also been invited to join us.
Partnership of Providence (CAPP) is celebrating Community Action Month,
dedicated to recognizing the success of the national Community Action Network.
America’s Community Action Agencies connect millions of children and families
to greater opportunity, transforming their lives and making our communities —
and our nation — stronger. This month, CAPP is engaging in programs and events
that showcase our innovative work in Providence.
Our day will be filled
with events including the launch of the newest Little Free Library!
There are only 16 certified within the city of Providence and we are excited to
have one of them! Our Free Little Library will always be accepting book
donations. Community members will be encouraged with the "take one leave
one" book concept. There will be indoor and outdoor activities for
children including face painting, a bouncy house, games and prizes and the
painting and creation of a Kindness Rock garden for the community center.
Residents are invited
to enjoy a free grilled hot dog or hamburger with us while they have an
opportunity to meet with our dedicated staff members and find out more
information on our services and programs:
