Donald Trump is continuing his assault on low & moderate income Americans contrary to his campaign promises to improve the quality of life for all Americans. First his recent announcement of his tax cut is essentially a tax cut for business and the top 1%, and an increase of taxes for middle income America. Secondly his refusal to fund Medicaid subsidies for states that originally accepted expanded Medicaid options under Obama Care, means increased premiums for middle-income taxpayers and a threat to Americans with pre-existing medical conditions. Thirdly he announced changes to the ACA that would make low-income women’s access to birth control medications tougher, and easier for employers to provide medical coverage’s that do not allow coverage for birth control devices and/or legal abortions.
His plan to end DACA is essentially another example of attacks on low-income American’s as families that are disrupted will need additional support and denies the ability for those families to meet daily living expenses. His more recent threat to pull needed federal resources from Puerto Rico in the wake of devastating hurricanes is just another example of Trumps lack of concern for vulnerable Americans.
On the international front this administration has sent more troops to the middle-east, threatened to pull out of the Iran Nuclear deal, shut down gains made to improve relations with Cuba, and threatened to get involved in Venezuela’s civil unrest. These actions have in the minds of many de-stabilized America’s position on the world stage.
What I and many other Americans are wondering about are the jobs that this President promised to bring back to the USA. Also, I am concerned about the rise of White Supremacist and Neo Nazis activity in the country as this President campaigned on bringing the country closer together, but his actions and rhetoric has done exactly the opposite. These are some of the concerns of middle and low-income Americans; not to mention the Russian investigation and the President’s continued attempts to undermine the media. More recently he has stated that the licenses of media outlets that disagree with him or his accounts of events should be revoked, an obvious attempt to undermine the First Amendment of the US Constitution and the freedom of the press.
This President has attempted to take several actions and has made many declarations that if implemented would be subject to Constitutional challenges, and we are only 9 months into this administration. He is clearly continuing his plan of reversing any and all actions by the Obama Administration. And is assaulting low-income and middle income Americans with his policies through his Executive Orders. All of which in my mind are attacks on those Americans unable to defend themselves with a Republican controlled House, Senate and Whitehouse.
But I’m Just Saying!
