Democratic Senator Franken and Congressmen Conyers accepted responsibility recently for earlier actions of sexual abuse against women and resigned. Only Republican Congressmen Trent Franks has stood up and took responsibility for his actions but not Donald Trump. Donald Trump remains in the Whitehouse as President of the United States with over 20 accusations of sexual abuse and or misconduct hanging over his head.
Then there is the Access Hollywood tape of Donald Trump crowing about his ability, as a celebrity to do anything he wants to women or anybody else for that matter without consequences. During the campaign this misogynist President made cruel and nasty remarks against Megan Kelly, Hillary Clinton, Rosie O’Donnell and those accusers of sexual impropriety against him. He has no boundaries. Yet the American people have not responded with outrage in enough numbers for their Congressional representatives to take action against him.
What is most alarming to me is that the Evangelical and Christian Right have not come out against Donald Trump who based on his actions and comments is anti everything these so-called value voters stand for? The Country was founded on some core principles that today have become lost in word smithing and legal posturing. Unfortunately, with the make-up of the current Supreme Court of the United States the narrower the issue(s) the more they lean to the right, and rubber stamp social issues that are in direct conflict with the intent of the Constitution.
The current campaign in Alabama for Jeff Sessions’ old Senate Seat between Roy Moore and Doug Jones is yet another example of a bad actor (Moore) being supported by the Republicans both on the hill and at the local level in Alabama. With accusations of pedophilia hanging over Republican candidate Roy Moore Trump and people like him would rather elect this bigoted, racist, homophobic, who was twice removed from Alabama’s State Judicial System for violating the law to the US Senate, rather than a Democrat with a sterling reputation of enforcement of the US Constitution.
Now that the #MeTo movement has begun to empower more women to speak out against sexual abuse and other forms of assault, and force powerful abusers into the light, maybe Donald Trump will finally be forced to address his own misdeeds and step down, or better yet be impeached. One can only hope!
But I’m Just Saying!
