PROVIDENCE, RI -- Following his failed 2006 campaign, Matt Brown left Rhode Island with hundreds of thousands in campaign debt, didn’t pay his own contractors, and went on vacation without swearing in the governor -- his final duty as Secretary of State.
Today, with over $80,000 owed to people and businesses working for his campaign according to the most recent fundraising report, Brown is on track to make the same mistakes again.
“Matt Brown portrays himself as a protector of working people but the record shows he stiffed ordinary workers and small businesses during his last campaign,” said Emily Samsel, Raimondo campaign press secretary. “Matt Brown is already racking up tens of thousands of dollars in debt this year. He can’t be trusted with the state budget.”
Under Governor Raimondo, there are over 15,000 new jobs in our state, community college is tuition-free, wages are rising and we’re fixing roads, bridges and schools. Matt Brown has committed to reversing the policies that led to Rhode Island’s gains.
