We are only weeks away from the midterm election on November 6th.
For the past two years, Republicans have controlled the House, the Senate, and the White House. We’ve seen unprecedented levels of corruption, attacks on health care and civil rights, and the cost of living rise. Many Americans have been left working harder than ever before and still not able to get ahead.
Our Democracy cannot withstand another two years of this chaos. This election is the most important election of our lifetime. We need to ensure that Democrats take the House back this November so we can put a check on this Administration and get the government working for the people again.
Republicans are working on behalf of their big donors, powerful specials interests, and lobbyists, not for the hard-working American people. The top one percent has grown richer and corporate profits have grown exorbitantly, while wages for most workers remain stagnant. It’s no wonder 80 percent of the American people say they can’t trust elected officials in Washington to do what is right.
But Democrats have come up with a bold plan to increase your pay through strong economic growth by rebuilding America, lowering your health care costs and prescription drug prices, and cleaning up corruption to make Washington work for you.
The Trump administration, with the GOP Congress by its side, is working hand-in-hand with Wall Street, big pharma, and other big corporations. Together, they’re driving up the cost of prescription drugs and health care and are standing in the way of wage growth for hard-working Americans.
If Democrats take the House back this November, we will start by fixing our broken political system and returning to a government that works for the people.
We will fix our broken campaign finance system and eliminate the corrupting influence of corporate money in our politics. We will strengthen our nation’s ethics laws to fight special interests and hold Washington accountable. And we will empower American voters to ensure a responsive and effective government.
Americans have been left feeling frustrated and distrustful. They've lost faith in the government's ability to understand and improve their lives. And it’s no wonder with stagnant wages, crippling health care costs, and corruption scandal after corruption scandal. Hardworking Americans have seen the richest individuals in our country and the most profitable corporations get a huge tax cut, where 83% of the benefits go to the top 1%, and working families are footing the bill by proposed cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to pay for this tax cut.
Democrats are ready to deliver real results for the people of this great country. When we take control of Congress, we will get to work investing $1 trillion to rebuild our crumbling bridges, roads, and schools and create 16 million good-paying jobs. This will help move goods and services and promote strong economic growth.
And Democrats have a plan to lower health care costs and protect coverage for pre-existing conditions. One of the biggest expenses for working families is the rising cost of health care and prescription drugs. For years, Republicans have remained committed to repealing the Affordable Care Act. Democrats, on the other hand, remain committed to keeping access to high-quality health care within financial reach of all Americans, especially those with pre-existing conditions. We need a system that works in the interests of people, not pharmaceutical companies. We will advance real solutions to lower health care costs and bring down prescription drug prices.
Republicans will give us more of the same. They will continue to work on behalf of the powerful and well-connected and those who fund their campaigns. House Democrats have a plan: to fight for the people, driving down health care costs, growing family incomes by rebuilding America, and taking on, in a serious way, the corrupting influence of money in our political system. If we win the House back this November, we will restore the public's confidence by getting their government to work for them again.
